Create an Abstracted Landscape layered with oil paints and inks!

Join abstract landscape painter Cheryl-Ann Hills for a two-day, 3 hr/day workshop in her home studio in Hamilton Ontario and learn how to create an abstract landscape painting using oil paints and water-based inks! For ages 18+ Some previous painting experience recommended.

In this class you’ll learn how to:

  • Successfully layer oil paints over water-based inks

  • Find shapes in the landscape

  • Develop an abstracted approach in the landscape

  • Use layers to develop complexity and depth

  • Simplify the composition

  • Develop a narrative in the work

NOTE: This is a two part class. The first class we will be using our water-based medium for the base layers. The second class we will be layering oil paints over the ink layers. The time between is required to ensure the water-based layer is fully dry.

Students will receive a recommended materials list upon registration.

When: Saturday October 4th, 2025 1pm to 4pm AND Saturday October 11th, 2025 1pm to 4pm
