Sunrise on Superior
Ever since first seeing Lake Superior in 2018 it has captured my imagination time and again. It calls to me. This large work combines oils and inks in a rhythmic flowing composition ablaze with the morning sun.
Part of my surrealist styled work, I crafted a hut for the weary traveler to sit and stay awhile, enjoying the solitude and sunrise. I also experimented here with pieces of a story; the road north in the lower left, the majestic pines here created oversized for impact, and the small lodging, humble yet welcoming.
This powerful piece will draw you in time and again.
This original painting is 36” high and 36” wide with a depth of 1.5”. The artwork wraps halfway around the edges which are then finished in black. This provides a clean, finished, high-end look and makes the work ready to display without the need for a frame.
